Temporary Groundsman

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) is looking for a Temporary Groundsman to work at 'The Home of Cricket'.

Main Tasks and Accountabilities

• Assist with maintenance and preparation of all playing and practise areas
• Operate equipment as requested by Head Groundsman
• To assist where necessary with the upkeep and maintenance of various tools and machinery and equipment
• To learn and improve necessary skills relating to use of technical equipment and general groundmanship through on the job learning and external courses
• Assisting with any other requested activities in and around the ground with the agreement of the Head Groundsman
• To provide a helpful and professional service to players, managers and other users of the ground

Variations of job relating to Major Matches

• Early arrival at Lord’s as required by Head Groundsman and departure after all ground work completed
• Particular awareness of media personnel and technicians working in vicinity of playing area
• Wearing of appropriate (and formal) Lord’s clothing as required
• Behaviour appropriate to maintain the image of ‘ Lord’s, the home of cricket’

Skills & qualifications, experience, attitudes/competencies

• No experience necessary
• Flexible in working hours and prepared to work weekends and Bank Holidays on occasions
• Prepared to work in adverse weather conditions
• Team player
• Politeness, enthusiasm and customer service awareness
