Head Coach

Marylebone Cricket Club is now looking for a successor to the current Head Coach, Clive Radley who is retiring shortly.

This exciting role embraces responsibility for all cricketing and management aspects of MCC’s Young Cricketers (YCs) thus giving them the best opportunity of getting County contracts. It also includes overseeing the coaches and coaching standards at MCC Universities (previously UCCEs).

Key activities include:

  • Selection, management and coaching of the YCs ensuring capability of competing in 2nd XI Championship and Trophy competitions
  • All YC cricketing matters including choice of opposition, grounds, umpires etc.
  • Management of pastoral support for the YCs
  • Coaching initiatives and standards in MCC’s Indoor School
  • Organising travel, accommodation for matches, pre-season overseas tours and scouting activities including liaison with Counties and County coaches
  • Development and/or coordination of YCs and University programmes

Candidates need a significant cricketing background, possibly at international level, and must have proven managerial and administrative skills along with extensive coaching experience, currently or imminently at ECB Level 4.

The role requires an excellent range of communication skills for interacting with players at all levels, parents, children and MCC members. A teamworking and motivational style allied to good organisational and planning ability will also be essential.
