Pink Twenty20 kit unveiled for Middlesex

Date released: 7 May 2007

Middlesex County Cricket Club have unveiled their new and exclusive pink Twenty20 kit for the 2007 campaign, reflecting Middlesex’s partnership with Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the UK’s leading breast cancer charity.

The Twenty20 Cup zonal rounds take place between 22nd June and 6th July this summer. At all four of Middlesex’s home matches, including two at Lord’s Cricket Ground in conjunction with MCC, Breakthrough volunteers will be collecting donations from spectators and Breakthrough wristbands will be available throughout the ground for a suggested donation. For every replica of Middlesex’s Twenty20 shirt, male and female design, and cap sold this year, a donation of £5 and £2 respectively, will be made to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

The Middlesex squad were joined at Lord’s today by Sky Sports presenter Clare Tomlinson for the launch, after Clare showed her interest and support in what Middlesex are doing this year with Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Clare said, “I think this is a fantastic and unique way for a sports club such as Middlesex to support a charity and I am proud to be a part of raising the profile of the great work that Breakthrough are doing. Having a shirt especially designed for women as part of this initiative is tremendous and reflects the spirit of the Twenty20 Cup and it’s appeal to the whole family. They’re very flattering and a great way to support your county and your favourite charity all at once!”

Vinny Codrington, Middlesex CCC Chief Executive, said "It's fantastic for Middlesex CCC to be involved in this new and innovative way to help raise funds and awareness of Breakthrough Breast Cancer. We all hope the partnership is a roaring success and will raise lots of money for the charity’s vital research, campaigning and education work.''

Owais Shah, of Middlesex CCC and England, said of the announcement: "The players are a hundred percent behind this initiative and are delighted that Middlesex CCC has formed a partnership with Breakthrough Breast Cancer. The team can’t wait to pull on the pink shirts and show there support in this unique way.”

Sarah Tedder, Head of Community Fundraising for Breakthrough, added: “Nearly 44,000 women and 300 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK, so it affects a huge number of families each year. The funds raised from this partnership with Middlesex County Cricket Club will help Breakthrough move one step further to its vision of a future free from the fear of Breast Cancer.”

Recommended retail price for products – adults replica shirt £40.00, junior replica shirt £35.00 and caps £10. All items will be available in the Middlesex CCC shop located at Lord’s.
